is based on enhanced qPCR that exploits various scientific advances, including a method adapted to prepare water samples. The procedure is based on the extraction of DNA present in bacteria and produces a quantitative result for the enumeration of bacteria related to Legionella and/or the specific bacterium Legionella pneumophila of all serogroups (1-15). Each test has an internal positive control to protect the user from obtaining false negatives by having a positive control in each test. An internal reference allows the measurement of environmental, chemical, and microbiological interference to compensate for it, which ensures a more accurate and independent measure of the quality of your waters.
The BioAlert Lp15 method does not depend on an operator to take a sample, transport it and process it in a laboratory. The result is obtained extremely quickly, 4 hours after automated sampling and without human intervention.
STEP 1
Water is drawn automatically from the direct connection to the system following activation of the pre-programmed schedule or taken from a mobile bottle manually connected to the system.
STEP 2
Following a pre-filtration, the sample is injected into the test cartridge where the bacteria are captured by the filter and the excess water is evacuated to increase the concentration of the sample.
STEP 3
The sample is then cleaned with a soapy solution to remove interferants present in the sample.
STEP 4
The bacteria are then lysed in a solution that allows 100% recovery of the bacterial DNA in the sample.
STEP 5
Following this, the cartridge is closed, and the chemistry present in its lid is delivered into the test chamber. The biochemical reaction that starts is then followed in real time by the BioAlert Lp15 optical system.
STEP 6
The measurement is compared to a calibration curve to quantify the number of bacteria present in the sample.

There are several approaches to controlling the proliferation of pathogens in industrial waters. It is possible to prevent the appearance of bacteria by using large quantities of chemicals or disinfecting procedures. No, the design of the equipment makes it possible to install the BioAlert Lp15 unit without stopping the cooling equipment. Several facilities have been installed at customers’ sites without interruption or modification of their systems.
The device is an artificial intelligence that performs its automated reading according to the programming defined by the user. Once the measurement is made, the device is recharged for the subsequent measurement and communicates the result to the user via the customer’s preferred method of communication.
BioAlert Lp15 equipment can be interfaced directly into your internal communication system (SCADA / IIOT) and sends the result instantly. With a daily measurement, the result is predictable and thus eliminates surprises, contrary to monthly laboratory tests. The unit also has an automated alarm system (by email or text) when immediate action is required.
